Bridge Prototype
My name is Jorge Luna, I am a 17-year-old junior currently attending Dalton High School, located in Dalton, Georgia. I recently created a bridge concept for my "Engineering Concepts" class with the goal of strengthening community connections. The challenge I sought to tackle was the rail tracks that separate the entrance of our downtown area, preventing pedestrians from accessing it. To overcome this issue, I proposed the construction of a safe and convenient bridge that would allow individuals to cross over the rail tracks. By doing so, our community would be united, and the risk of accidents that may occur when people attempt to cross the railway tracks would be significantly reduced. Additionally, this bridge would encourage people to walk downtown instead of using their cars, which would contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in our community.

Brain Storm
I have created various bridge designs after conducting multiple experiments to improve pedestrian safety. By utilizing brainstorming techniques, I was able to develop enhanced designs for my bridges.
Research
In order to craft the blueprint for my bridge model, I utilized the tool "Measure distance and area" feature available on Google Earth. This feature provided me with the necessary data to determine the precise length of the railroad and the gap between them. Once I had gathered all the measurements, then I inputted them into Tinkercad, where I began constructing my prototype.
During the construction process, my primary focus was on pedestrian safety. To ensure this, I designed the bridge using sturdy and resilient steel poles that surrounded the stairways and the bridge to prevent any accidents. I was also aware of the unpredictable and harsh weather conditions the bridge may face, so I added a roof to provide shelter and protection from any weather-related hazards for anyone walking through the bridge. All of these measures allowed me to create a safe and secure pedestrian bridge.
Finish Product/conclusion
By creating my prototype, I gained invaluable knowledge and experience in problem-solving. It reinforced my belief that anyone can make a significant impact on their community, regardless of the size of their actions. Additionally, using Tinkercad taught me new skills that I can apply in the future.
