Box Brownies

IMG_2265.jpeg

I remember growing up watching my mom make brownies on the weekends from the box and having them turn out perfectly every time. Since getting to college, I've attempted making brownies multiple times and they never quite turned out the way they were supposed to. The last time I was home, I got my mom to make brownies with me so that I could finally figure out how to do it better.

Ingredients + Tools

Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil

Tools

  • 8x8 glass pan
  • mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • toothpick

Prepare the Oven and Pan

Before starting anything else, you'll want to preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Once you do this, you'll grease the bottom of the glass pan.

Doing both of these things beforehand saves you time after you mix together your ingredients.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

For this step, the first thing that you will do is pour your chosen brownie mix into a mixing bowl.

Following this, you'll add your wet ingredients to the bowl to mix thoroughly until there is a consistent texture.

Pour Batter

Transfer the batter to the greased glass pan and level the mixture so that it is even throughout.

Baking

Bake in an oven for 35-38 minutes. Once it has reached 35 minutes, check on the brownies to see if the surface is still dewy or not.

At this point, use a toothpick to poke a small hole in the middle of the brownies. After the toothpick comes out clean, then the brownies are done being baked.

Cooling and Enjoy

Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.

However, if you like your brownies warm and a little gooier, feel free to cut into the brownies a few moments before they are fully cooled.
