Bow Shaped Pillow DIY

image.jpeg

Hi I'm Mizfashionablylate20! This beautiful accent bow pillow is a copy cat version of the Metallic Stripe Bow pillow by Xhilaration found at Target for $19.99. My DIY version cost $10

Materials Needed:

Fabric

pillow insert or pillow stuffing

Needle and thread

Sewing machine

Hot glue gun

Ribbon Scissors

Fold Fabric in Half on the Reverse Side

How much fabric you need will depend on what size bow shaped pillow you would like to make. My pillow is 12 x 16, so I bought less than 1/2 yard of fabric. Turn the fabric on the reverse side and iron fabric to release wrinkles.

Mark Measurements

Mark and measure fabric. Mark 13 for width and 17 or length. The extra inch is for sewing allowance.

Pin Fabric

Using fabric pins, pin fabric together along the width and length.

Take your scissors cut around the pins to get rid off the excess fabric.

Sew and Turn Pillow Cover Inside Out

Sew around the perimeter of the fabric removing pins as you go to connect the two pieces together. Leave a opening to insert your pillow.

Turn Pillow Cover Inside Out

Turn the pillow cover inside out and stuff pillow inside.

Hand Sew Opening Close

Taking a needle and color coordinated thread, hand sew the opening close.

Attach Glittered Ribbon

Cut ribbon to desired length. Using hot glue, glue one side of the ribbon to the pillow. Take other length of ribbon and tightly pull it around the pillow to give it a cinched middle and hot glue it.

Your Finished!
