Bottle Wind Turbine Sculpture
In this instructable you will be making a Bottle Wind Turbine which is a model of a wind generator that generates power/electricity from wind. It is a great source of renewable energy. This sculpture will be made from recycled material (big plastic bottle).
You will need:
- big plastic bottle,
- metal wire (about 1.2 mm - 1.6 mm thickness),
- hammer,
- nail,
- pliers,
- and scissors.
Hammer in the Nail to Make Two Holes for First Leg in the Front
Hammer in the nail to make two holes not too far apart from each other. You will have to hold the nail with hand or pliers.
Hammer in the Nail to Make Two Holes for Second Leg in the Front
Hammer in the nail to make two holes not too far apart from each other. You will have to hold the nail with hand or pliers.
Hammer in the Nail to Make Two Holes for First Leg in the Back

Spin the Scissors in the Front
Spin the scissors as shown in the photo to increase the diameter of the holes. Do it slowly, gently and do not push to hard. You might cut yourself. Be careful!
The hole must be just big enough for the metal wire to go through.

Make the Back Legs by Putting the Metal Wire in Holes at the Back
Put the metal wire as shown to make the back legs. You might want to look at photo the next step to see how the metal wire will be placed inside the bottle.
Make the Front Legs by Putting the Metal Wire in Holes at the Front
Put the metal wire as shown to make the front legs. Then twist and cut at the front of the bottle as shown in the second photo.
Twist the Wire of Each Leg
This step is only needed if you feel like the wire is not in fixed position and easily moving in and out of the bottle because of its softness. This is usually the problem with thin metal wires. Do not do this step if the metal wire is very thick. You might widen the holes of the plastic bottle.
Twist the metal wire of each leg to prevent it from moving inside the bottle as shown in the photos.
Make the Propeller
The steps in making the propeller are shown in the photos. There is no wrong way to do it.
Then you screw in the lid on to the bottle.
You are now done!
