Bookend - TIE Interceptor

I've had a scale model Tie Interceptor lying about for a couple of years now and I just couldn't find a proper place for it. Finally I figured I could make a simple bookend/stand for it. I opted for plywood and a bit of plexiglass I had lying about.

Tools and materials:

• plywood (7mm thick)
• plexiglass (2mm thick)

• handsaw
• jigsaw
• cutter and scalpel knife
• yardstick
• sandpaper
• wood glue
• hole marker
• wood paint
• paintbrush

Cut the plywood to appropriate size; I used two pieces 10x10 cm in size.

Cut off two corners on each piece, 2cm from the edge, as seen on the picture. Save the corner cutoffs, they will be used later for support.

Cut the plexiglass 2 cm wide, 6 cm long. Mark the placement for the holes in plywood and cut them out. I did that with a scalpel knife since plywood is soft.

If you had no experience with cutting plexiglass it's done so you put a yardstick down and cut into it with a cutter several times from both sides and then just snap it where the cut is made.

I also made two grooves in the plexi with the jigsaw so that the model would fit into it. Be careful when sawing plexiglass because if you force it it can snap easily.

Use wood glue to glue the pieces together. Make sure to sand everything before you paint it.

Since I made the holes in plywood a snug fit for the plexi it didn't require any gluing of it to the base.

I used water based wood paint. Let it dry well before using it ;)
