Boho Crochet Coaster
A lovely, beginner friendly crochet project perfect for a quiet afternoon! Keep it simple or add tassels for a nice bohemian look. The instructions are written using US terminology.
Supplies
What you will need:
- 3mm macrame cord
- 5mm crochet hook
- scissors
- fine tooth comb
Create the Magic Circle
Wrap the cord around two fingers as shown in the picture so that on the reverse the cords cross each other. Insert your hook under the first cord and grab the cord further away. Pull your hook back and twist then grab the cord further away and pull through the loop created earlier.
Round 2
Chain 2 and then place 6 double crochets into the centre of the magic circle. Pull on the end of your cord to close the magic circle and join with a slip stitch. The chain 2 from the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch, however it will help avoid any holes in your coaster.
Round 3
Chain 2 and place 2 double crochets in every stitch around. Join with a slip stitch.
Round 4
Chain 2 and then place 1 double crochets in the next stitch and 2 double crochets in the stitch after, then 1in the stitch after that. Repeat like this (1-2-1-2 etc) until the end of the row, then slip stitch and tie off. Cut the rope and weave in the ends.
Add Tassels (optional)
Cut some shorter pieces of cord - approx. 14cm and using the crochet hook add a piece of cord to every stitch of the coaster. Double knot each piece of cord and brush out the macrame cord.
Final Touches
Comb the tassels out and give your bohemian coaster a little "haircut".
Your coaster is now done!
