Boba Fett Wood Burning Stove
Greetings!
My sons and I were inspired by a woodburning stove by doddieszoomer https://www.instructables.com/id/Vader-Gas-Bottle-Log-Burner/ in a shape of Darth Vader.
We built one similar to it. But we also to decided to build a Boba Fett stove.
Material:
The major component for the helmet was an old propane tank
The rest of the pieces for the face plate, base, visor, and antenna were random metal scraps.
The paint was high temp grill paint from the hardware store ( silver and black), and engine paint ( read and green).
Tools:
welder
grinder
personal protective equipment: gloves and goggles.
Thanks for reading
The Helmet
The helmet was built out of an old propane tank.
Make sure it is empty. I opened the valve on mine and left it out in the hot Texas sun to make sure all the gas was gone.
I also drilled a small hole on the top while pouring water on the bit.
Make sure you have the tank empty before cutting as the sparks from a grinder and propane do not mix.
Next we used a sharpie to draw a rough outline.
The Visor
It was made out of 1 inch wide strips. I placed it on a paper template to make sure all the pieces fit well.
Next, openings for the visor and cheek plates in the helmet were cut out.
The Helmet
The cheek plates were cut out. I used a cardboard template for that.
That part was tricky as the pieces had to be bent, twisted and welded at an angel.
My son did all the welding as his welding skills are much better than mine.
The Base
This is the only metal piece I bought ( the rest were scraps). As you can see, it was rust free unlike the rest of the material.
Essentially, I cut out a circle, welded a hinge and built a border to keep the ashes inside.
I also added a primitive locking mechanism ( not shown).
Odds and Ends
The headphone pieces were made out of bed rails.
For the antenna, a rail road spike was used.
Final Touch
Grind, polish, paint, and enjoy.
Thanks for viewing.
