Blue Night King Mask. GOT
The Base
The first step will be to wrap our head in the stretch wrap, and then with the tape we will proceed to make some fake ears that will serve as a base for our sculpture, as simple as that.
First picture for reference.
wrong franchise I'm afraid. XD
Coating
In our second step we will cover the back of the head with the plaster, first we will cut small pieces of the plaster and mix it with water to activate the material. We must soak it with water and put it on our covered head, remember to open small holes in the stretch wrap. to be able to breathe, if you have someone who can help you to cover your head, it would be of great help, if not, you can use two mirrors to follow the process.
you should do the same process on the face part.
*Remember that the plaster must be mixed with water,
and the drying time varies according to the ambient temperature.
And always remember to document your process for instructables. :)
Let It Dry.
Now we will let it dry for approximately 2 hours and we will proceed to carry out the same process but on the front (on the face), remember to let it dry completely since they are separate pieces so that they can be easily disassembled from the head.
the sun will be a great ally in this part of the process.
Getting Ready for the Fiberglass Resin
for this part you should place yourself in an open space.
we will place a plastic on the floor to avoid annoying or harmful residues for our home.
Resin Time.
Now we will mix the resin with the catalyst and apply independently on the front of each of the parts of our mask.
we will let each piece dry for a day.
Polyester resin is a particular type of resin that catalyzes thanks to a particular hardener and without requiring particular climatic conditions. This type of product has excellent adhesive and mechanical properties, and can be used to create a wide range of products.
Be careful when use it, use it with care and all safety regulations preferably with a mask and gloves to avoid skin irritation.
Check the mini video process. Use a brush to make the process easier.
References
Before starting the sculpting we will look for several images on the web that will serve as a reference for our mask.
search as many as possible so that you have a better perspective of the character and its details.
Let's Start Sculpting
First we form small aluminum rolls that will serve as a base, we will use aluminum to create the base of the extra reliefs of the face shapes and also to make the base of the horns. which we will later cover with clay to sculpt and we will give it shape according to the references. after that we will cover the aluminum parts that we use to generate reliefs. we will make small strips of clay that we will use to cover the entire face, based on the references.
Stylize.
with our sculpting tools we soften and stylize the most detailed features of the night king
Baking Time.
Now it's time to bake our two pieces. for that we will use an electric or traditional gas kitchen oven.
*remember to follow the steps recommended by the manufacturer.
*the specifications of each sculpting clay may vary.
Time to Paint.
After bake we will proceed to paint, we will use a layer of gray primer and then a white one, also if you can apply a layer of glossy lacquer over the white, to give our mask a little more realism. Remember to allow a reasonable time to dry between each paint application.
Shading
Before applying our blue paint we will apply the respective shading to give more strength
to the characteristic details of the Night King.
For that we will use black patina paint, to apply it we will use a clean piece of cloth and rub small drops of black where shading is created or where the dark parts of the character are. Remember to check the references.
Place velcro parts on the inside of the mask to make it easier to assemble.
Paint It Blue.
for the final part we will add the blue color
We will use a foam soaked in the metallic blue paint for the parts covered by extensive texture and brushes for the more specific details
Suit Up.
Now is the time to march towards Westeros.
have a good time making it
