My partner has a lot of scrap macrame cord so I thought I'd use some for the ends of blow darts

Supplies

  • Scrap macrame cord - I used five lengths of about 70mm
  • Straight bamboo skewers
  • Thin cord - i used waxed cord for leather lacing
  • Comb

Tying the Ends

I had some longer lengths of cord and it was easier to get five longer lengths, tie a knot around them at one end then at 70mm spacing tie off till I had enough, wrap cord around six or so times and then tying off again on each section, then cut just in front of the each tie.

Insert Skewer

Hold the tied end and spread each cord out and poke the sharp end of the skewer down the middle.

Position Skewer

slide up to the end leaving the skewer to protrude out about the same as the cord is long. This is so when loading the blow dart you can push the skewer in instead of the cord causing it to bunch up in the barrel and jamming

Teasing Out End

Untwist each cord and comb out.

Trimming

You can trim the ends up after fitting to the blow gun and you are all done.
