Knex Blade of Peril
This is my Knex sword that I made, it’s my favorite and I took inspiration from andrew.cobill, another creator on Instructables. I basically took the inner part of the blade that he made (not the handle or anything else, but the actual main big part) and copied it onto my build. Everything else is designed by me. This is a tutorial only involving a vague piece count and only pictures with the blade as a whole, meaning I won’t take the blade apart too much to show the insides, just a little bit. Anyways good luck building if you decide to.
Pros:
-Extremely sturdy and durable
-Not only for show but also for actually hitting things hard without worrying about the sword breaking
-Comfortable handle with no sharp points digging into your hand
-Able to be one-handed or two-handed
-Decently long blade
-Weighs a decent amount, much like a real short sword, (maybe a little more heavy) it’s on pros because some people like the realistic weight factor
-Looks cool in my opinion
-Doesn’t bend and stay in that position like other swords do, it still bends like many swords do, except it returns to it’s original position like a rubber band
Cons:
-Takes a hefty amount of pieces to build
-Requires broken pieces to make a version exactly like mine
-Weight, (also on pros for another reason) weighs a realistic amount which can be bad if you want to swing it like how you would swing a pencil, not light so you have to have some technique in your swings
-It has spacers on the handle and the cross guard so it’ll make rattling sounds when you shake it
Supplies
Around 92 yellow connectors, 10 green connectors (4 are black on my sword), I THINK around 150 green rods, I THINK around 120 white rods, a lot of spacers for the handle and cross guard, 6 black rod-connector strengtheners, 1 red connector, 1 black gear piece (for the hilt), 2 straight tan pieces, (basically the orange connectors but shorter, and are tan) around 18 blue rods, 4 bendy blue rods/purple rods, around 20 white connectors, 3 black ball sockets (that’s actually what they’re called, I think…), around 30 black rod caps, as many tire pieces you’d like to put on the handle (I have 13 on mine because I have no more), one way connector pieces, (around 2 tan, around 4 blue, and around 20 purple), and lastly you should have a tool to cut pieces because this build requires it if you want to make one that looks exactly like mine, and is as durable as mine.
The Blade
To be honest I recommend looking at andrew.cobill’s tutorial for this part of the sword since he actually takes it apart and gives more detailed information than mine.
The Crossguard
I know the pictures don’t really explain everything but I hope the tip boxes help a little more.
The Handle and Hilt
This is the longest step and in my opinion the hardest step, also because you have to have 2 really rare pieces.
Sliding the Tire Grips on the Handle
Easiest and shortest step by far.
You’re Done!
Hope you enjoy it!
