Black Widow's Glowing Bracelets
In this instructable, I will show you how to make a glowing version of Black Widow's electric bracelets from Avengers: Infinity War. I have been wanting to make these props for a while, and I am excited to share this project with you.
Supplies
- leather
- eight small magnets
- hot glue
- varying thicknesses of craft foam
- two small LED blue finger lights
- black craft paint
- paint brushes
- nerf darts (twenty to thirty)
- band saw
- utility knife
Gather Reference Images and Supplies
It is important to gather different reference images and supplies before you begin.
Preparing the Leather
Cut two identical pieces of leather that are as wide as the length of a nerf dart, and long enough to wrap around your wrist. On the reverse side, hot glue four magnets on each piece, lining them up, so that they can magnetically attach around your wrists. In the middle of each piece, mark two lines, so as to create a section in the middle 1.25 inches wide. Last, paint the two outer sections black.
Creating the Glow Piece
To create the middle section with the blue glowing light, cut six pieces out of 0.5 inch craft foam, that are 1.25x 5.75. Hot glue them together so as to create two stacks three pieces thick. Place two marks on either ends of the pieces, opposite each other, that are placed 0.75 and 1.5 inches from either end. (as shown in picture 2) Then, draw a line from the marks to the corner on the opposite side, and then cut along these lines, with a band saw, to create two diagonal cuts on each piece. last, on the side that you made the 0.75 inch diagonal cut, cut about half way along the top seam, using the band saw, and then hollow out the inside, so that you can insert a small blue light. The lights I used, are called finger lights, and can be purchased at the dollar store.
Adding Trim
Following my pictures, add the trim using 2 millimeter foam, making sure to leave part of the front trim open, so that you may access the light. Then, paint the entire piece black.
Adding the "bullets"
Glue the section, you created in the last few steps, to the unpainted middle section of the leather. Then, evenly space Nerf darts on either side, and hot glue them to the leather.
Paint
Thoroughly coat the Nerf darts with black paint.
