Binder Add-on

In this instructable, I'm going to show you how to make one of these binder add-ons. This add-on lets you hold multiple notebooks and other papers with you binder without it being really messy and hard to hold.

Materials

You will need:

- x3 plastic folders (the same size)
- double sided tape (glue is fine but it has to stick to plastic)
- Velcro
- duct tape (optional)
- scissors
- ruler

Measuring the Pieces

Next, you will need to measure 3 pieces and cut them out. First you will need to cut the glued edge of the folder, so you can lay it out in one piece. Then you will need to measure. You will need two side pieces and one bottom piece.

Two side pieces:
The height is the width of the folder you will be using.
The width will be 2 inches. However mark the 1/2 inch marks because you will need them for later.

Bottom Piece:
The height will be the folders height.
The width will be 2 inches make sure you mark the middle because you will need it later.

Also, the green lines in the pictures marks the places where you fold and the black lines are the places where you cut.

Cut all the pieces out. The black lines are where you should be cutting. You should be left with 3 pieces.

Fold Along the Lines

Afterwards, you have to fold along the green lines. I suggest that you score them as you fold so they stay folded. You can score with a pair of scissors or ruler.

For the side pieces you would need to fold them in a accordion way so that the folds alternate and become a "w".

Cut the Final Folder

Cut the final folder so it will open completely and lay flat. You will need to cut along the glued edge.

Gluing the Sides

For the sides:

Put double sided tape along the inside of the outermost edge of the part. Pic 1

Line it up and glue it to one side of the folder. Pic 2

Do the same for the other

Cut Along the Middle of the Folder

You can do this before but I forgot so I did it now.

Glue the Bottom

Glue the bottom 1/2 inch from the bottom of the folder or much you like it it doesn't really matter, it just gives the folder more or less space. Glue the bottom piece on the outside to prevent paper from snagging on the folder later on.

Place the other half of the folder onto and glue the bottom piece on.

Finishing the Sides.

Now you will have to glue the sides to the top folder. This is the same procedure as the other one but it will be hard to measure up the sides.

The Buckle

Now cut a piece of spare plastic as you tab to keep the notebooks in place and stop it from falling out. It should be able to wrap around the width of the folder. You can wrap this is duct tape. Then you would have to glue it to the folder. After you glue it mark the places where you would put the Velcro and then glue it on.

Decorate

You could add a little bit of duck tape or whatever you wish.

Attach Onto Binder

Use double sided tape or hot glue to attach it to the binder front or back. Make sure you put glue/ tape on the folder then on the binder make sure the opening matches with the binders opening.

You're finished!!
