Big Trouble in Little China Drinking Game
I've been joking about hosting a BTiLC movie night for a while now, all for the sake of playing this game I devised. It's pretty simple and obviously silly, which makes it fun for newcomers and hardcore fans alike. Let's go!
Grab the Movie!
Get a hold of a copy of Big Trouble in Little China. DVD, VHS, Laser disc --whatever. You'll be playing along in real time, so format is not important. It is currently available on Netflix disc service, though not streaming at the moment.
Grab Your Drinks!
Type and quantity are up to you. A "Drink" in this game can be a shot or a swig of beer/wine, depending on your group's preferred party pace. If possible, get beverages that work with the theme of the movie.
Ideas for themed drinks:
Something involving Bacardi Dragonberry Rum
This tropical sounding concoction called Green Eyes
If your group is more into beers, see if you can find any of these top Chinese beers at your local grocery or liquor store:

*Please drink/play responsibly. Keep water on hand for anyone who wants to hydrate through the game and reduce their chances of regretting this evening.
Grab Your Friends!
Party size depends on your living/viewing space and your preference. I prefer keeping movie parties at 4- 10 people so that side conversations and background noise don't cause anyone to miss out on moments of play.
The Only Rule
Here's how the game works:
Watch Big Trouble in Little China.
Every time Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) asks a question, you take a drink.
That's it! Those of you familiar with the movie will know why this works. For the hero, Jack sure asks a LOT of questions.
Examples of the questions you might hear:
"Can I ask you a serious question?"
"Who the hell are you anyway?"
"What's in the flask, Egg?"
"WHAT? WHAT'LL COME OUT NO MORE?"
Grab the Air Mattress!
If you've all played along until the end of the movie, there's a good chance you'll have some friends crashing in your living room. Plan for this in advance. Have the inflatable air mattress or extra blankets at the ready.
You know what ol' Jack Burton would say at a time like this? Jack Burton would say to send everyone to bed with a big glass of water and a multi vitamin to help ease the hangover symptoms.
Have fun, movie fans!
