Feeding a baby is messy business. It's not unusual for my son to wind up with more food on his shirt than in his mouth.

At home we use lots of cloth bibs (including some cute bow tie bibs his grandmother made him) but we're planning some long road trips this summer and we'll only have so much room for dirty laundry.

I was wondering what to do when feeding him on the road, when I thought of the disposable bibs they use in dentists' offices.

After rummaging through my sewing and craft supplies, I was able to whip up my own bib clips in under 10 minutes.

Now we can make a bib out of paper towel or any napkins we pick up on our way! The messy napkin can be tossed and the clips reused at the next meal.

At home we can also clip on a facecloth or towel if his bibs are all in the wash.

Materials

You'll need:

  • Ribbon (I found these cute rolls of ribbon in the dollar bin at a craft store)
  • Clips (I used suspender clips that I had in my box of sewing notions, but you could use any kind of clips including alligator clips, hair clips or even binder clips)
  • Needle and thread / sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Pins

Put one end of the ribbon through the loop of a suspender clip. Fold over the end and pin it down.

Sew it together and then repeat with the other end.

Finished!
