Beverage Bomb
With the onset of cold weather comes the desire for warm beverages to warm the soul. Whether that be Hot chocolate, Chai Latte, or even a White Mocha these bombs can be filled with your favorite treats.
Supplies
White Chocolate melting wafers
Marshmallows
Hot Chocolate mix
Sprinkles
Candy Molds
Candy Brushes
Making the Shell
To make the shell you need to melt the chocolate wafers in a microwave safe bowl. Heat at 50% power for 30 seconds and stir. Continue to heat until the chocolate is melted. Once melted you need to move quickly before the chocolate stiffens. Using a small spoon put a small amount of chocolate into the mold. Use the candy brush to coat the walls. Put the mold into the freezer for a few minutes to harden the chocolate. Remove the mold and repeat the process to thicken the walls. Return the mold to the freezer and let sit before proceeding.
Removing From the Mold
Once the chocolate is thoroughly set you will need to remove it form the mold. Carefully stretch the mold to release the seal, and push gently from behind to release the chocolate.
Even the Mold Edges
To even the edges use a non-stick skillet on low heat to melt a solid edge. This is also how you close the mold halves together.
Fill the Molds With Your Favorite Beverage Additions.
Fill one of the mold halves with you favorite beverage additions weather that's sprinkles, marshmallows, or something more to your liking. I made 2 different examples. One filled with hot chocolate mix, sprinkles , and mini marshmallows. The second with just marshmallows and sprinkles.
Seal the Mold and Decorate
Using the skillet on low, heat the edge of a shell and stick the halves together. You can melt some additional chocolate to adhere any decorations.
Variations
I experimented with three different molds to see what worked. The large spherical mold worked with hot chocolate mix. Use less of the mixed than listed as the chocolate shell will add to the flavor. I tried to use an ice mold for a mid size sphere. The chocolate didn't come out very well, I think it was the stiffness of the mold. The third was a candy mold that provided some excellent detail on the exterior. This mold provided at square and sphere shape.
