Ben - The Explorer was created using objects that I have acquired over the years. Everything screwed to Ben has been recycled/repurposed.

I started with the idea that I wanted to create something that would be something no one expected. I liked the fact I incorporated leather with metal to make it more earthy. I have a rather large collection of different things. I gathered a tin, a pool ball, oil can, old skate, rusting nuts and bolts, an old block, and old leather.

I took something pre-existing and elevated it with minimal modification.

I know I wanted to make the face from a pool ball, and to make him wearing leather glasses, and to make him with a personality by adding the feather to the his oil can hat, and toy telescope.

His tin body holds his neck and head with arms and legs attached. Some of the objects used, I really can't tell you what they are. His body was connected to the skate

The whole being is created one eye, one arm, at a time.

I knew when I was done, because I could see the personality. He was an explorer and of course his name was Ben!
