Beautiful Burgers
So as they are pretty easy to make, I'll make my own.
Most of the ingredients were raised on our lifestyle block, I bought stuffing and was given the cheese.
Supplies
Minced beef approx 500g or 1 pound
Half an onion
Egg
Sage and onion stuffing
Salt
Pepper
Haloumi cheese
Chilli flakes
Buns
Condiments as wanted
Ingredient 1 Onion
Ingredient 2 Minced Beef
Add the beef, I used about 500 grams (1 pound) of good quality meat. Ours came from one of our grass fed cows.
Ingredients 3,4,5 and 6 Seasoning and Stuffing
Add approx 3 tablespoons of sage and onion stuffing or breadcrumbs and season to taste.
Just enough stuffing to slightly dry the patty
I used ground peppercorns and coarse sea salt, the chilli flakes are from the garden and are dried then ground in a coffee grinder
Ingredient 7 Egg
I find it's easier to just use your hands and mix it but I guess you could use a mixer if you wanted
Mix It Up and Divide
Once completely mixed, divide into equal portions, I made 7 patties from this but you can make as many (or few) as you want.
Ingredient 8 Haloumi Cheese
I got given a whole lot of this Chilli Haloumi cheese it is absolutely delicious.
Cut into strips and cook in a pan.
Cook
I cooked the patties and Haloumi in very lightly oiled pans (virgin olive oil)
Ingredient 9 the Bun
You can toast them if you want, I prefer untoasted.
Assemble the Burger
The world is your lobster here,
Basic burger and cheese or add egg, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, pineapple.... go wild
I went with a little mayo, ketchup and sweet chilli sauce spread on the bun, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato and a little raw onion underneath, then topped with a sliced gherkin and the Haloumi cheese
And Eat 😋
You can keep your 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. These were delicious. The crunch of the Haloumi with the moist burger was sensational.
Served with Beer Batter chips, ketchup and mayo
