Beaded Roses for Your Special Someone

Have you ever heard anything about beadweaving? Or, maybe, you have already tried the options offered by the technique? Regardless of your beadweaving experience, you will certainly like the idea I’m going to offer you in this Instructable. Lets us try creating bead roses for your mother, sister, granny, friend or any other close person you would like to surprise! To tell the truth, I have discovered beadweaving not long ago and I realize that there is a lot I should still learn about the technique. The bead roses I’ve recently created became the first work I did on my own. I loved the process a lot and I’m looking forward for your ideas and comments. So, let’s get started!

To make the bead roses, you will need the following supplies:

• Red beads
• Green beads
• Green mouline thread
• Thin wire
• A small flower pot
• Gypsum
• Brown paint

To make the petals of your roses, you will need to take thin wire, the length of which should be around 60 cm. Take 3 beads of red color and string them onto the first end of the wire and pass the second end of the wire through the last two beads just as it is shown on the photo. After that, take 4 more red beads and string them onto the opposite wire end. Repeat the same action with the next rows, which should consist of 6, 9, 10 and 11 beads each using the parallel weaving technique. Having done that, you should string 7-9 beads onto both ends of the wire and pass each of these ends through the first bead – the one you have started weaving the petal with. All in all, you should make 8 petals for each rose.

Take another piece of wire, the length of which should be around 40 cm and string 14 beads onto it. Then pass the second piece of the wire through 7 more beads moving in the opposite direction. Take 7 more beads and string them on the first end of the wire again. Repeat the same action with the next rows, which should consist of 6, 5, 5 and 5 beads each using the parallel weaving technique. Having done that, you should pass one of the wire ends through the 7 beads you have initially stringed. Finish the step by twirling and fixing the wire.

Take one more piece of wire, which should be around 30 cm long and string 3 beads of green color onto one of its ends. Then pass the second end of the wire through the last 2 beads moving in the opposite direction. Take 3 more beads and pass the second end of the wire through it once again. Repeat the same action with the next rows, which should consist of 3, 3, 2 and 1 beads each using the parallel weaving technique. All in all, you should make 5 sepals for each flower.

Take the piece of wire, the length of which should be around 40 cm and string 5 beads of green color onto one of its ends. Then pass the second end of the wire through the last 3 beads moving in the opposite direction. Then, take 4 more beads and pass another wire end through it once again. Repeat the same action with the next rows, which should consist of 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 beads each using the parallel weaving technique. All in all, you should make 5 sepals for each flower. You will need to prepare 5 leaves for each branch. As soon as they are ready, attach them to each other to form a branch like the one shown on the photo. The number of leaves will depend upon the amount of roses you wish to make. As a rule, each rose should come with two branches, which means that you will need to make 10 leaves for each rose.

Are all the elements ready? Then it is high time to start assembling the rose! Take a flower bud, which should be placed in the middle of the flower and attach 4 petals around it. Then take 4 more petals and place them around the flower to make it look beautiful. Finally, you should attach the sepals and the leaves. Take the green mouline thread and pass it round the stalk.

Take the flower pot you have prepared and pour gypsum into it. As soon as it dries out a bit (it should still be soft so that you could place the flowers inside it), paint the upper layer of gypsum brown using the paint you have in your supplies. Now, you just have to place the roses inside the pot and wait until gypsum dries out completely. That’s it! Your masterpiece is ready! Good luck!
