Measurements are for Suckers
This is kind of a by feel recipe. In this situation we we used three large eggs and half a cup of milk. This is the approximate ratio.
Add in your seasonings. Here we used a teaspoon of vanilla, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and and a tablespoon of sugar. If you mix the cinnamon and sugar together beforehand they will mix into the liquids better.
Whisk the mixture with a fork.
Set Up Your Station and Cook
Set Up the Station
I like to set everything up so it rolls along faster. It avoids walking around with wet bread.
Dip your slices of bread into the liquid mixture, then flip it. Pick the slice up and let the excess drip off.
Put the wet slice into a hot pan on medium heat, around 350F. A good way to test the heat of your pan is to drip a drop of water into the pan. If it sizzles your pan is hot enough. If it does not sizzle continue to heat your pan until it does.
When your toast is browned and there is no raw egg visible flip the toast and cook the other side until the toast is cooked through. If you are worried about raw eggs break open a cooked toast to ensure it is cooked through.
Dress As You Wish
This particular toast is dressed with pears, walnuts, and maple syrup.
You put what you like on your toast, because it's your french toast.
Enjoy!
