Bar Into Liquid: A Homemade DIY Castile Soap Recipe
Creating liquid soap from scratch can take up to 10 hours. Fortunately, you can cut and melt your favorite soap bar into a liquid in under ten minutes! We will use an example from CastileSoap.com. However, you can use this easy-to-follow recipe with any of your favorite bars.
Items you will need:
- 1 Castile Soap Bar (1 bar per 2.5 cups of water)
- Cooking pot, teapot or microwave
- Glass container (preferably a jar)
- Foam or spray dispenser
- Cutting board
- Sharp Knife
- 2.5 cups of water
- Goggles
- Gloves
- Optional - Natural extracts or decor to place in dispenser
Protective Wear
Place goggles on the face and wear gloves to protect yourself from possible injury.
Clean Work Area
Have a clean cutting board and knife available to cut your soap bar(s).
Cut Soap Bar(s)
On your cutting board, cut the soap bar(s) into small chunks using your knife. The smaller the chunks, the faster the soap will melt with the introduction of boiling water.
Put Soap Chunks in Container
After cutting your bar(s) of soap, carefully place the soap pieces into your glass container (or jar).
Boil Water
Using a cooking pot, teapot or the microwave, boil approximately 2.5 cups of water per soap bar.
Pour Hot Water
Once the water has come to a boil, gently pour over the soap pieces located in your glass container. The soap pieces should begin to melt.
Wait
Allow the water to melt all the pieces of soap. This process can take upto 30 minutes depending on your soap formula.
Transfer Into Dispenser
At this point, you have turned your favorite soap bar into a liquid! If you wish, you can leave the liquid soap in your glass container or pour into a foam or spray dispenser for easy use.
Results & Bonus
(Optional) Decorate: To give your liquid soap additional personality, drop in medicinal extracts such as Aloe Vera or Calendula into the dispenser. This will create a unique combination that will not only look good, but will also improve your skincare regimen.
Creating your liquid soap by cutting and melting your favorite bar does not only work with Castile Soap, but with any other organic or natural soap bar. This is a simple and easy DIY home project that gives you endless options.
