Band-Aid Butterflies
In today's story, when Maya asked her grandmother her questions, she discovered that kindness was a big part of the answers. When Maya helped her friend Annie by putting band-aids on her scrapes, she was being kind and taking action to mend some of the hurt she had caused.
Remind yourself to use active kindness in your life by making band-aid butterflies in honor of Maya's kindness to Annie.
Supplies
-construction paper
-markers
-band-aids
-scissors
-pencil
Unwrap Your Band-aids.
But don't take the paper off the sticky parts yet!
Draw Butterfly Wings.
Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Set a band-aid against the folded edge and make two little marks with your pencil where the pad of the band-aid is. This will indicate the center of the wings.
Extend the marks out a bit, and then draw the outline of a butterfly wing.
Cut Out the Shape.
When you unfold it, it will be a pair of wings!
Stick Your Butterfly On.
Take another piece of construction paper to be your background. Set the pair of wings on the paper, and then stick a band-aid over the wings, with the pad of the band-aid over the center rectangle.
Decorate!
Use a marker to decorate your butterfly. I gave mine a face and little legs! You could also doodle on your wings if you wanted to.
Add More Butterflies!
You can repeat these steps to make as many butterflies as you want.
Decorate the Background.
Enjoy your band-aid butterflies!
