Balrog From Lord of the Rings.

Yesterday, I chanced upon a Balrog in the midst of the Sambhaji Park in India. Well, not being able to yield any weapon and fighting nearly a demon from another world, I had help from Gandalf who perchance was also there for jogging. Well, I guess I was lucky enough that Gandalf had found an Elf's Sacred Sword which could pierce the skull and he beheaded the demon then and there.

Gandalf gifted me this Balrog's head as a token of bravery having saved multiple lives from calamity.

It took me one week for planning and creating the complete head which may be used in a Comic- Con.

I have used 20 rings, each of different decreasing size starting from the base of the head.

Use half the diameter of head as the base size and decrease slowly until it converges to small point.

Create the Horns

Align the rings in a straight line, paste a stick at one end, fold this stick in a concave shape as shown to create the horn.

With the help of glue, more sticks, tape and stapler, I have create a stable structure of a horn.

Create two of this.

Create Face.

I have used the head as a reference, created a circle around the head.

Then, I attached several sticks across the jawline and the face - to create the face. I have attached several sticks in parallel to create the face and cut out the eyes and the nose. Below the face, I have added a separate jaw for the monster, added front and below teeth and tongue.

Attaching the three - two horns using glue, tape and stapler. It is better to align the horns as per the head size so that they all fit in together. This part is Hard.

If you find a better way, let me know.

Papier Mache the Horns and the Face.

PS: Before you do this, make sure to try the structure on.

Apply Papier Mache to the structure, except the space for inserting the head.
