Baking Soda & Super Glue
Baking Soda has many unusual uses which can easily be learned about through an internet search: Cleaning stained mugs, Absorbing fridge odours, Removing carpet stains, Whitening sheets - to name but a few. Here's another use I didn't find with an internet search - Building small objects.
This instructable shows how to make a Toothpaste Dispenser using just Baking Soda, Super Glue and a paper towel.
Supplies
Baking Soda
2 or more small Super Glue tubes (thin kind and buy from a discount shop)
Paper towel
Cling film
Plastic gloves
Scissors
Toothpaste Dispenser
Before beginning, protect your work surface with some cling film and put on some plastic gloves to protect your hands. Work in good ventilation.
- Cut a a strip of paper towel about 15 mm in width.
- Wrap the strip around a partially used toothpaste tube which has been covered in cling film. This will act as a mold.
- Squeeze some super glue onto the strip of paper towel.
Super Glue and Baking Soda Makes Plastic
After adding some super glue onto the paper, sprinkle on some baking soda, this will set the glue into a hard plastic.
Trim the strip of paper if required using scissors.
Build Up by Adding More Baking Soda and Super Glue
Add some more baking soda and then drip on some super glue until the band is ridged.
The completed toothpaste dispenser can be sanded smooth but the Baking Soda and Super Glue combination make a very hard plastic so you may like to leave it with a 'rustic' look.
