Baked Sweet & Sour Chicken

Here's another great easy recipe for you to enjoy. Baked Sweet Sour Chicken. Take this to your next potluck. I make it all the time because it doesn't require a deep fryer and the clean up is easy. Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Breasts, cubed
  • 1 inch 1/2 Cup Cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce

Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Medium Mixing Bowl x2
  • Whisk
  • Deep Baking Dish
  • Oven
  • Large Spoon
  • Gloves if you got them

Season and Add Cornstarch

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Season chicken in a medium sized bowl with the salt, pepper and garlic. Give it a stir.

Mix in the cornstarch with your hands or a pair of tongues, wear gloves if you have them. If not be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after dealing with the chicken.

Mix in Eggs

Mix in your whisked eggs throughly in the same manner as the cornstarch and remember the hand washing.

Brown Chicken in a Pan

In a large pan, heat up some vegetable oil at medium heat and lay the chicken in evenly. Brown on both sides and transfer to a baking dish.

The Sauce

Now in another medium sized bowl whisk together your ketchup with the vinegar, sugar, soya sauce, garlic and ginger.

Mix in Sauce and Bake

Pour your sauce over the chicken and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
