In this instructable we are kicking of a series of grilling instructables, the first of which is how to make bacon wrapped steak. This easy steak recipe is super yummy and easy to do, great for family barbecues or other gatherings or parties. Around this time every year for my birthday I throw a barbecue for family and close friends and bacon wrapped steak is the star of the barbecue. Let's get grilling!

Cut Up the Beef
First let's go ahead and cut up our beef into chunks. The chunks should be about an inch to an inch and a half in diameter. At this point if I was going to grill the steak by itself I would add salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and drizzle a bit of oil on it, but the bacon adds so much flavor which lends itself nicely to the natural flavor of the Tri-tip cut of beef. Also you want to pick a nice cut of bacon, I like a good thick cut, hardwood smoked bacon.
Cut, Wrap, Skewer
Now we just cut the bacon in half and wrap up a chunk of meat, then stick it with a metal skewer. You can certainly use a bamboo skewer if you like or other type of skewer, I do use those for other types of grilling, but for these I really like using the metal ones. I usually add 5 to 6 wrapped chunks per skewer. Now they are ready for grilling.
Grill Them Up!
Now we use our favorite grill. I like to use a nice charcoal grill. We want the grill to be around medium heat. If the grill is too hot the bacon juices will cause a flare up which can burn the bacon and meat and we don't want that. If that does happen, you can close the grill which will help, or just moved the bacon wrapped steak kebabs to the edges where it is cooler. Also do not touch the metal skewers with bare hands! They will be hot! Use tongs to move them around. Cook them for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side, so cook them 3 to 5 minutes, then do a quarter turn to the next side, cook them, etc. It will take around 15 to 20 minutes or so. Then enjoy them!
