Backpack Phone Solar Charger From Reused Electronics

This is a quick and easy solar charger for your phone made from reused and scavenged electronic components from either broken or useless devices. This is especially useful for those days when you forget to charge your phone or even if you are just out camping and need a little extra juice for an emergency call.

Find some charger circuits from broken power banks, chargers, and even old power supplies.

It will look to have capacitors, a diode for circuit protection, and maybe a battery. Although most of the time the battery is broken. Some circuits should also have a built in 5V regulator.

​Solder the USB Port

Solder the two power pins from the USB port to the power rail on the PCB. You can easily find this by tracing the power trails form the capacitors. It should be soldered parallel to this which means soldering positive to positive and negative to ground.

​Solder the Solar Panel

Solder two long lengths of wires onto the solar panel’s anode and cathode terminals.

Glue the Solar Panel

Snake the wires into your backpack and glue the solar panel the back side of your knapsack.
