Baby Turtle Tank Setup
Learn how to create a beautiful baby turtle tank!
Supplies
10 gallon tank
Sand
Pea pebbles or gravel
Driftwood and large stones
Aquatic plants
Moss
Low water level aquarium filter
Repti-safe water conditioner
Substrate
Cover the bottom of the tank with sand. Spread pea pebbles in the back of the tank, fading it out to the front.
Hardscape
Place hardscape items, like driftwood and stones, around the tank to get a pleasing look and that will provide the turtle with hiding places and places to rest out of the water.
Land Areas
Build up the remaining pea pebbles into one or two crevices in the hardscape to create land areas for the turtle to crawl up out of the water and rest or bask.
Planting
Place plants in crevices and in the substrate. Put the mosses on the hardscape, on the substrate, and on land areas.
Water Level and Filter
Gently add water, as to not stir up the substrate, until it is just below your land areas. Add water conditioner according to directions on the bottle. Set up the filter near the back of the tank.
Introducing Your Turtle
Let the filter run overnight. Then you can introduce your baby turtle to the tank. You can even add minnows to the setup for your turtle to chase when it's bored. I hope you enjoy your new turtle tank!
