BBQ Tool Rack and Bottle Cap Opener Station

This project is for my father. He likes to BBQ for the family and have a few Coronas. I felt this would be a great thing for him to have on the wall by his pit. He doesn't drink Abita beer much but I thought having a local brewry bottle opener would be nice.

Materials List
1. Quantity 1 - 1" x 6" x 8' Untreated Pine

2. Quantity 1 - 1" x 4" x 4' Untreated Pine

3. Quantity 1 - 1" x 1-1/2" x 6' Untreated Pine (Ripped drop off from previous project)

4. Quantity 1 - Abita bottle cap opener

5. Quantity 2 - Plated wood screws

6. Quantity 1 - Exterior Stain - Dark Bark

Tools List

1. Pencil

2. Tape measure

3. Square

4. Miter saw

5. Air compressor set at 105 psi for nailer

6. 2-1/2" nailer with 2" nails

7. Cordless drill

8. Paint brush

First I measured and made all of the necessary cuts.

4 - 1" x 6" x 2'

1 - 1" x 4" x 2'

2 - 1" x 4" x 4-1/4"

2 - 1" x 4" x 5"

3 - 1" x 1-1/2" x 2'

Next I used the 1" x 1-1/2" x 2' pieces to frame the 5 boards for the face.

I used 2" nails used at an angle since my nails were too long. Worked every time.

The 4" board went in the middle to designate the bottle cap opener area.

I test fit the cap opener to see how it would look.

Next I added the cap drop.

I used the 4 small cuts from the 1" x 4" x 4' board.

Nailed these together and then nailed from the back side of the face boards.

I screwed the Abita bottle cap opener to make sure it looked like I wanted. It does.

Next I drilled the holes for the tool hangers. I am using cabinet nobs for the hangers.

Next I sanded the entire front area and the corners to prepare for staining.

Once the sanding was done, I did the stain. I used Dark Bark stain.

After staining, I added all of the parts.
