BBQ Flame Tamer That Will Last.

Off-the-shelf BBQ flame tamers from the local major chain hardware store usually rust out within 12 months and need to be replaced every summer. I was contemplating buying the higher priced off-the-shelf briquette style tamer, but its made of the same lightweight steel as the cheaper tamers, so I got thinking...
I could build one from reo-steel and use briquettes, but saw the small BBQ grill at the hardware store and figured I could cut it back to fit my BBQ and rest the ceramic briquettes on top.
Happy days it worked and should last a very long time.
Supplies

Cast Iron Grill (AUD$34)
Ceramic Briquettes (AUD$23)

Measure up your BBQ flame tamer size and mark out the new cast iron grill.
Carefully cut off the ends to fit.
CAUTION: only attempt this if you have skill with a disc cutting tool and wear suitable PPE. The cast iron is brittle and if cut incorrectly will break off.

Place the grill on the BBQ and position the briquettes above the burners.
Burn off the oils and start cooking.
