BBQ Banana Boats

Banana boats make the perfect treat on a warm summer evening after a BBQ, when the BBQ is starting to cool down They are easy to make and I love being creative with the fillings.

Ingredients:

bbq.JPG

2 medium bananas

20g marshmallows

20g Dark chocolate chips

20g walnut halves

20g chopped strawberries

20g raspberries

2 30cm squares of aluminium foil

decorative sugar (optional)

Adding the Fillings Into the Banana

Use a small, sharp knife to make an incision through the middle of the banana. Try to cut as close to the middle as possible, so you can put in your fillings easily. Gently open the incision to make space to put your fillings inside.

Preparing the Bananas for Cooking

Wrap each banana in a square tin foil ,ensuring that the banana is completely wrapped up.

Cooking the Banana Boats

Place the bananas upright on the BBQ. the flame of the BBQ should be still producing heat, but not to high ,so you do not burn the banana boats. Cook the bananas for 10 minutes.Or until the tops are brown and the fillings are cooked to your liking.

The Final Product

Once the bananas have cooled slightly, remove the aluminium foil. I like to enjoy my banana boats with fresh berries, since they are in season at this time of year, but it is up to you to decide how to eat your banana boats. Enjoy!
