Axe Prop Made Out of Cardboard

IMG_0112.jpg

I made an axe prop out of cardboard boxes! I used cereal boxes because I had a few laying around. I also didn't have time to paint mine but you can to if you want to.

Supplies

boxes

tape (or paper but tape works best)

glue (I used modge podge)

hot glue

paint (optional)

Cut Boxes

Cut the boxes up so that its flat on both sides

Trace Axe Shape

Trace the shape of the axe onto all of the cut boxes. To save waste, I cut out two axe shapes on each box.

Glue Together

Glue together each cut out axe piece until its as thick as you want it to be (keep in mind that the handle will be thinner than the axe).

Paper Mache

Use tape and glue to paper mache the axe until you cover the entire axe

Cut the Handle

cut the handle out of a thicker cardboard (but also make sure the handle is thinner than the axe).

Repeat step 4 but for the handle

Glue Togeather

Glue the axe and the axe handle together with hot glue (it may fall apart, but you can use any other type of glue to hold it together).

Paint

This step is optional as I didn't have time to paint it (and I didn't have any paint), but you can start with a ccouple base coats of white and then paint it any color.
