Awesome Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwiches

20200618_190258.jpg

In this project, im going to show you how to smoke a pork shoulder with a rub to make delicious pulled pork sandwiches. Now the rub is optional, but the pork will be flavorless without it. The rub is my dad's secret recipe. He was willing though to share the ingredients, but not how much of them. I saw him using a teaspoon and smaller measuring things though. Sorry about this :( :( :(

Supplies

a smoker

a pork shoulder

wood chips (apple or hickory make the best taste)

mustard

----------FOR THE RUB:----------

dark brown sugar

salt

peper

onion powder

garlic powder

mustard powder

smoked paprika

cayenne peper

Preparation

First, make sure your meat is fully unthawed. Next put in your wood chips, then heat your smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit or 108 degrees Celsius. If the temp is a little below that, cook your meat longer, if it is higher, the meat will dry out and you dont want that. So try to keep the temp around 225F or 108C. Then you are gonna make an awesome rub. Mix all the ingredients for the rub together shown from above. Now, rub mustard on the meat, then put the rub on the meat. The mustard keeps the rub stuck to the meat.

Cook the Meat

When the smoker reaches the correct temp or around that, put the meat in. Cook your meat for around 2 hours per pound or 0.45 kilograms. Keep checking the temp every now and then to keep it around 225F or 108C. Make sure you keep the wood chips in the smoker too. When the internal temperature of the meat reaches 195 - 205F or 90.5 - 96C, take the meat out and let it rest in aluminum foil for 1 hour.

Get Your Sandwich Ready

After the meat rests for 1 hour, shred the meat to get your pulled pork. Then take the pulled pork and put it on burger buns or something like that. You can add anything you like to your sandwich. I personally like to add bbq sauce to my sandwiches.

Eat Up!
