Awesome Lego USB Drive
I think normal USB drives look pretty boring, so I remade a USB drive so that it looks like a Lego brick (pretty awesome).
Disclaimer: I do not take full credit for the design of the Lego drive, and am not the first person to have made it.
Supplies
Materials:
- USB drive
- Lego bricks (2x2 & 2x4)
- Lego plate (2x2)
- Superglue
- Extra Lego pieces
Tools:
- Craft knife
- Permanent marker
Remove Drive From Case
Carefully remove the drive from the casing. Some casings may need to be pried open with a screwdriver. My drive just needed to be pulled out.
Measure the Drive
Plug the drive into your computer and measure how far in it goes and mark that with a Permanent marker, giving 2mm extra.
Alter Lego Brick
Using a craft knife, cut out a hole big enough to fit the drive. Cut out the dots on the inside as well to clear space for the drive. Apologies for the lack of photos.
Glue the Drive In
Insert the drive into the Lego brick up to the marked line. It should fit tightly. Add some glue to fix it in place, making sure to keep the drive straight.
Make the Cap
Build a Lego frame as shown above to mark where to cut the hole for the cap. Place the USB Lego drive in and mark the line where it meets the side of the brick. If you need to expand the hole, cut very carefully so as to not make it to large.
Finish the Cap
If you want to you can close off the bottom of the cap. Start by sanding the edges off of the Lego plate so it can fit in the brick(do not try cutting the edges off, I've already tried that), Then glue it in place.
Add to It!
Now that your drive is complete, you can add to it. Minifigures, animals, computers and so much more!
