Using plywood, we build an electric vegetable slicer in this DIY.

This vegetable slicer is working on a mechanism to convert rotation into a horizontal reciprocating movement like in the first clip.

Both the .stl file and the blueprint for the vegetable slicer are provided here.

Supplies

For Making vegetable slicer we need following Material.

1) 30 RPM DC Motor

2) 2.5 mm Syringe

3) Wood 10mm Thick

4) Slicer

5) 9 volt Battery

6) 6 cm X 10 cm long Pipe

7) Two pencil

8) M10 Bolt 2.5 cm

6) Gum

Tools :

1) Wood Cutter Saw

2) Drill Machine

Make a 36 mm hole in the centre of a piece of plywood that is 1 cm thick and 13 cm x 13 cm. After that, insert a 30 RPM DC motor into this hole and secure it with adhesive.

Next, cut a piece of plywood to measure 28 cm by 10 cm, and glue one corner. Next, fix plywood for dc motors to this glue. Then, using a glue gun, attach 9 cm by 13 cm plywood to both sides of the plywood for the DC motor. Now, as seen in the picture, we have a one-sided open vegetable slicer box.

Next, on a piece of plywood, create a circle that is 10 cm in diameter and a strip that is 15 cm by 3.5 cm, as seen in image 5. Then, using a wood cutting saw, cut the plywood along the drawn line. You now have two plywood pieces, as shown in the last image.

Try Out Mechanism

Now drill a 10 mm hole in one corner of 10 cm of circle plywood and place a wooden strip on it. Using the M10 bolt, try to fix and disassemble after a tryout.

Now, take that piece of plywood and cut it into two pieces as seen in the first image. Then cut off both sides of a 2.5 ml syringe. Get a cylinder of plastic now, and attach it to the plywood strip on both sides.

Next, take a short piece of plywood and attach it to the side of the syringe cylinder.

Mechanism to Translate Rotation Into Reciprocating Horizontal Movement

Now attach a circle of plywood with a 10 cm diameter to a dc motor shaft. Next, take two pensils and pass them from the syringe like slider as shown in image 5. M10 bolt is then fixed via the wooden strip.

Take a 9-volt DC battery now to deliver power to the DC motor. Connect this battery to the dc motor's male pin. When it is turned on, a plywood strip will move horizontally through a syringe slider.

Top Platform

Making a platform for the sliced vegetables is now necessary. Draw rectangles like those in figure 1 on a piece of plywood that is 28 cm by 10 cm. Then use a wood cutting saw to cut this section. Fix this plywood to the vegetable cutter after that. Then attach two little wooden strips as seen in the last image to allow the veggie slicer to slide.

Fix Vegetable Slicer

Screenshot 2023-10-04 at 1.40.02 AM.png

Take a ready-made manual vegetable slicer, then cut the handle as shown in image 2. Fix this vegetable slicer to a wooden strip top that moves horizontally after that. With this equipment, a variety of cutting blades are available.

Vegetable Hole

Screenshot 2023-10-04 at 1.41.01 AM.png

Now cut a 10 cm long piece of 6 cm dia. pipe. Next, cut a 6 cm hole for the pipe in a piece of 10 cm by 8 cm plywood. In the third figure, attach the pipe to the wooden piece and the other two wooden strips. After that, set this structure on the vegetable slicer.

Automatic vegetable slicer is now Ready to Work.

Now, turn on the machine and try to cut the cucumber, onion, and carrot.
