Automatic Twister Spinner

Have you ever played a super fun game called "Twister." It is a game of physical skill that can improve your relationship with your teammates. Trying your best to survive to be the winner of the game, while following the difficult direction that is assigned to you. Which will be decided by the spinner that shows what is the next step you should make. Whether it is the left, right hand or foot, and the specific color you are allowed to touch. If your shoulder or your knee cannot hold up anymore and touches the ground, you are out of the game. The last person who stays in the game is the winner. However, I suspected a problem with this game. What if there is only two-person involved in the game. But how can they spin the wheel if they don't have another person to help them spin the directions. So, I came out with this innovation that can assist people who can also play alone and doesn't need an extra person to spin the wheel. Making this game more fluent and convenient. It is an Automatic Spinner that is controlled by the volume. During this game, the player would only need to shout out "Turn" and the sound would be transferred to the machine, making another direction for the players to follow.

These are materials that should be prepared before creating your circuit or your spinner.

Click the ingredients to find where you could buy the material.

Basic:

Arduino Leonardo Board x1

Sound Sensor x1

Jumper Wires (Male to male) x10 (require *5 total)

Jumper Wires (Male to Female) x (require *3 total)

USB to wires (female) x1

Additional:

Power Bank with a USB output w x1

Marker (black and red) x1

Big Ruler x1

PP Corrugated Board x1

Colored paper A4 (color red, blue, green, yellow) x1 each one

Art Knife x1

Extra box x1 (to cover your circuit and board under the spinner)

Tape x1

We are going to create a spinner that is 180 degrees half-circular that is made by the ingredient of Polypropylene. You can choose any color you like, due to it will be covered with colored paper in the last.

1. Draw out a circle that is 48 cm of diameter and a length of 28 cm of the radius.

2. Then, cut out the semi-circle. After this step, draw out four individual portions of space from the point in the middle from the radius.

3. Apply glue on the part you would apply different colored paper. It would be Red, Blue, Green, Yellow.

4. Draw another 4 equal sizes in each color from the center of the semi-circle using a pen or marker.

5. Write to each individual by right hand and foot and left hand and foot.

You will also need to assemble a 4 cm width and 24 cm of a black strip of the PP corrugated board at the bottom, in order to attach the server motor at the end. Uses tape by both sides to secure two different boards.

You can also get creative of what to add on your spinner, maybe draw some sketches to make your spinner more special than others!

Required materials:

Marker (black and red) x1

Big Ruler x1

PP Corrugated Board x1

Colored paper A4 (color red, blue, green, yellow) x1 each one

Art Knife x1

Create Your Circuit for the Program

In order to make this spinner work, we will need to create a circuit. You can follow the instruction and the photos shown above. I hope it could help you while you create this circuit. It is really important that you should not connect the wires wrong, due to the fact that it could cause serious damage to your computer, it may burn your computer or the Arduino. Such as, the (+) and (-) wires should be connected into right (corresponding) areas. You will also need an extra output source, such as a power bank. Due to this, the motor can use up a lot of electricity while operating it.

Upload and Download Your Code

Click the link below to download it down to your computer and plug in your Leonardo board

Requires you to plug in a USB cable in your computer to continue the process.

This program lets the spinner arrow to turn at random degrees.

Assemble & Decorate the Spinner and the Box Coverage

Assemble

Pick a suitable size box that fits in your Leonardo board and a power bank. Then you will need to cut holes in the box. (1) a hole for the plug for the Leonardo board. (2) is the part where the sound sensor is installed at one side of the box. (3) the hole for the motor to fit in the hole.

After making your wheel, you will need to put the Leonardo board into the box including the power bank inside the box to make coverage for the circuit. Then, using any kind of tape (masking tape, transparent) to secure the position of the sound sensor and the motor that will be of the lid of the box. It is important that you tape the sound sensor and the motor tightly, or else it would fall down easily and causes dysfunction of the spinner. Due to this, the box will be tilted one way making the spinner stand upright. After closing the lid of the box, remaining the motor unattached within the spinner. We will need to connect the spinner to the motor top and put your home-made arrow onto it using double-sided tape (optional)

Decorate

Be creative about how you decorate your box and wheel. However, the main colors are red, blue, green, and yellow. These are the colors that is needed

Spinner: I drew some symbols for hands and foot beside the words that are corresponding the meaning of the words in black and use a white permanent pen to write TWISTER on the bottom to create tension and to create more detail in my innovation.

Box: I choose a box that is already good looking on the outside, so I did not make any further move. However, if you only have a plain box that is great also. You can be more creative to paint your box into colors you like to be.

If there is any problem while creating, feel free to comment down below to ask questions. Overall, enjoy using the automatic spinner Wheel for the game of "Twister." Enjoy playing the game!

A reminder that some power banks will need to press a button in order to output battery, so keep in mind that before playing the game, it is always a good decision to check that the circuits and cables are in the right places.
