The first step is to collect the apples and create the filling. For this pie, the recipe calls for two Granny Smith apples and three Golden delicious. After collecting them it is important to wash and peel the skins. If you see any bruises on the apples this is a great time to remove them. Continuing working with the apples now core the apples and remove the stems or any parts unwanted in the pie. Following those steps, the apples should be in a process where slicing becomes easy. Cut into desired shapes for filling. The apples should equal approximately 6 cups. Now the apples are almost ready to fill the pie.

Time for Some Added Flavor!

The next step is combining and mixing the spices and seasonings. Combining ¾ cups sugar, 2 tablespoons white flour, ¾ teaspoon cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Evenly pour 1 tablespoon lemon juice over sliced apples. Spread mix of spices over apples and continue to mix together until all apples are covered.

The third step flips to working on the crust. For this recipe, a premade crust tastes just fine. Place the first crust into 10 in. pie pan. After pushing the crust down into corners pour mixed apples into pan. After flattening the apples and removing excess the 2nd crust is placed on top. Any pattern that is wanted to be cut into this top crust can be done before placing on the pie. Trim the dough that overhangs the pan and crimp edges of the dough. Lightly dust cinnamon sugar over the pie and bake at 425F for 40-45mins. or until crust is browned or center is bubbling.
