Symptoms of Fault

Juddering or erratic wipers, wiper rods popped off at ball joints, wipers over-arching, windscreen wipers not working or only one working

The Fault

The poor quality bearings on your vehicles wiper linkage rods wear causing these symptoms

The original soft plastic bush bearings on each end of the two wiper linkage push rods wear down leading to the push rods popping off the ball joint and causes the symptoms noted above.

Other designs of bushes available are made from the same material as OEM and of the same design

You Will Receive

4 x reinforced Nylon wiper bushes

4 x circlips

You will need:

• A dremel kit with a sanding disc and drum
• Circlip pliers
• Mole grips or vice

To access the wiper linkage:

1) Remove the top bolts holding the passenger side wiper arm in place, use a 16mm socket to do so.

2) Lift out the passenget side wiper arm

3) Lift the black plastic cover and hold into place using a box or large item

You should be able to remove the wiper linkage push rods without removing the entire wiper linkage. This will depend on the space in your engine bay, plus your skill set.

Using a dremel with the sanding disc attachment, remove the original plastic bushes from both sides of both push rods. (photo 1)

Using a sanding drum, open up the centre holes until the plastic bushes glide in smoothly. (photo 2)

If the ends of your wiper rods are not flat use the disc & drum to get the bushes to sit flush so the circlip can mate into the groove. (photo 3)

If your wiper rods do not have locating hole, use the sanding disc to create one. This will ensure the bush cannot rotate in the hole. (photo 4)

Insert the new bushes into the rods. The attached photos show the directions the bushes should be facing on each rod.

Using circlip pliers, install the circlips over the back of the bushes, ensuring the ciclips mate into the ridge on the bush. If you cannot mate the circlips into the ridge, you will need to:

• Use the sanding drum to widen the gap where the bush pushes into
• Use the sanding disc to flatten the surface the bush sits against
• Use the sanding disc to largen the locating gap
• Press the bush in further

Use a set of molegrips to press the wiper rods back into place. If you are finding it tricky to get purchase, you can apply a small amount of grease to the studs. Alternatively if you have the wiper linkage entirely removed you can place it in a vice.
