Attach a WebCam to Your Prusa Mini Printer With This 3D-printed Arm

I have a Prusa Mini 3D printer since middle of the year. I use Octoprint from the beginning controling the printer. I have installed it on a raspberry Pi Zero W which give me the possibility controlling the device wireless. Great stuff. Really.

Now I came to the point that I wanted to watch the printing process and making recordings of the printing. So I connected a standard webcam to the Pi Zero. That worked well. And with my first setting I used a small tripod for adjusting the cam. This is not very useful. Sometimes you touch the cam and you move it, turn it or anything else. The cam should be mounted fixed to the printer.

So this is my solution.

Supplies

This solution is completely printed in 3D. You can use any type of filament you want.

If you print in a box at high temperatures and you would like to put the cam into the box I would recommend PETG or ASA which is more stable over 40°C.

Print the Parts

You find enclosed all stl-files needed for printing. I have added a cable clip so you can attach it in your construction software to the base and / or arm. I use a velcro instead. It's working.

If you have another cam than mine you can add another attachment that works fine with your cam.

You see my solution in the photo above

Clip it to the front. It will fit.
