Articulating Bat

I was given an assignment to design an articulating item that required no assembly. Since Halloween was right around the corner, it seemed appropriate to make something spooky-themed. I thought it would be cool to make a bat that looked like it was flapping its wings.

For this project, you will need:

-A 3D printer with filament

-A computer

-The STL file below

Print Out the Design

Download the STL file on your computer and insert the file into the 3D printer. Make any changes to its size and find what is most suitable for you. When you are satisfied, start to print it out.

Ensure Flexibility

When the print finishes, remove any supports that may have been used. You can also carefully move the joints in a wave motion to loosen them. After a bit, it should be able to move and flap pretty well.

Customize the 3D Printed Bat

This step is more of a suggestion step.

An idea I was given but did not implement into the design was to turn them into key-chains. I felt it would be better to leave the choice of whether or not a hole was needed for whoever wanted to print their own. Plus, there are other ways to turn it into a key-chain without a pre-built hole.

Also, you can add other designs to the bat. Some options would be to paint the bat a different color, add a face, or any other details you would like.

Apologies for the rather short instructable but I think this is all that is needed. Thanks for reading!
