In this Instructable, I will show you how to make a simple shield for an Arduino. This one will add a stylish LED lamp, with a pushbutton, for an Arduino. It's an ideal base to make a lamp with your microcontroller. So here's how!

Supplies

Assemble the Circuit

Start by laying out the circuit on the mini breadboard. We will leave the circuit on the mini breadboard, since it fits into the clock base easily. Add rows of LEDs to the breadboard, and hook all of the anodes to one row of the breadboard, and the cathodes to another, with a separate row for each color of the LEDs. Next, add the button. Then hook the button to pins 12 and 13. Hook each color of LED to a separate pin so that you can control them individually.

Take a piece of corrugated cardboard. Next, rip the paper off one side of the cardboard. Roll the cardboard up into a tube and tape it on the inside of the tube. Take a pushbutton and poke the legs of it into the cardboard tube. Then, hook the button to the Arduino according to the wiring diagram above. Find the foam and black mesh. Take out the needle and thread and sew the foam to the mesh. Next, sew the foam and mesh sandwich into a tube. Sew the tube to the base. Now, trace the top of the lamp onto a price of paper and cut it out. Glue the traced shape to the top of the lamp with the liquid glue.

Conclusion

Now you have a homemade Arduino lamp shield! Try out some different code on the shield. You could make the lamp turn on and off with the button, or you could make a color-changing lamp that's reactive to a temperature sensor! Put It All Together

Put the breadboard on top of the shield. Then, place the base on top of the shield, with the pins inside of the base. Ne
