Arduino Decorative Windmill
This project is inspired by: https://www.instructables.com/FLAPPY-PAPER-BAT/#di...
In this project I am making a windmill decor, you could put it on your desk or in your room, or office. Also, you could put on other stationary or decor onto the base of the windmill, like in the video shown. Putting the windmill in the room/ on the desk could make the desk more vivid and energetic.
To make this project, I made lots of changes, but it is still originated from the Paper Bat.
Changes I Made:
- the way the motor arms spin
- the model (from bat to windmill)
Made changes from the inspiration of Flappy Paper Bat

Step 1: Materials Needed
- breadboard & Arduino
- male to male jumper wires x3
- micro servo motor with 4 arms horn x1
- white straws( can bend) x4
- boxes: big x1, small x1
- scissor
- utility knife
- glue gun
- glue
Step 2: Make the Windmill
In this step, we are going to make our windmill using the servo motor, straw, and small box. First, use the knife to cut a hole with the size of the motor so it could fit there. Make sure the hole is not too small or too big so it won't fall out or can't fit. Then put the motor in the hole, the wire should be hidden inside the box. And cut the straws to make the windmill arms(4 arms), you could decide the length of the arm, whether longer or shorter. After that, put the straws onto the small arms of the motor, if it is loose, use the glue gun to fix it.
Step 3: Make the Base
Afterward, poke a small hole on the big box(where we are going to connect the wires of the motor with the Arduino board), and put the Arduino board inside. And, connect the male to make wires with the board and the motor wire, make sure to connect them thru the hole on the box. Next, put the windmill onto the base, you can stick it using a gluegun.
Step 4: Coding
Upload the codes to Arduino board.
