April Vase 2.0

For my last birthday, my brother bought me some test tubes and fixations to link pipes, « go ahead, guess what your gift is ! » hum…okay ?

He probably have seen the nothingness in my eyes.

But he actually had a good idea : a home made April Vase. I did not already know the original, to tell you the truth, of the brand Tsé-Tsé.

A little less than a year later, I wanted to make my own version, with its little girly side. So it's my April Vase 2.0 or my November Vase that I present to you today, I have not decided yet.

So…Here we go !

You will need of :

· A sewing machine

· 13 flat-bottomed test tubes

· Some thick cloth (two fabric strips of 2 inches wide by 55 inches length)

· A little clamp

· A sewing scissors Zig Zag

· A water erasable sewing pen

First of all, cut two fabric strips of 2 inches wide by 55 inches length using sewing scissors zig zag.

It allows to have a nice pattern, and the fabric should not fray. I cut the strips along the length of the fabric I had (55 inches).

You will have a little bit of length left if you want to add more test tubes.

Place your strips, wrong sides together, and put your clamp on the extremity. Make a first mark vertically for the first seam’s line that you will make. Then, position your tube between the two strips, against the closed side with the help of the clamp, perpendicularly. Then, make a pinch with your fingers to make the second vertical mark.

Sew on the two vertical marks that you just drew, and test the first tube location, to make sure it is not too loose or too tight for the first tube. If you have the right spacing, measure the distance between the first vertical trace you made and the second. You now have the ideal gap between each line of vertical seam (4,8 cm for me). You can now replicate this gap all the way down the strip, to make the thirteen seams.

Once finished, you can cut the end with the zig zag scissors, and you just have to add your tubes and beautiful flowers! Or colored sand or anything else that your creative mind will find...
