Apple Walnut Strudel
I want to share with you a recipe of delicious Apple Strudel with Walnuts & Cinnamon.
I found this recipe few years ago and it become my favorite winter dessert. As in "the right" recipe you have to knead the dough, I decide to cheat and do easier way. We will use bought puff pastry sheets.
Let's start!
Ingredients
- 2 Puff pastry sheets
- 3 Green Apples
- 100g Walnuts
- 1 tbs Cinnamon
- 2 tbs Flour
- 3 tbs Sugar sugar
- 3 tbs Brown sugar
- Powdered sugar (for serving)
- 3-4 tbs Bread crumbs
- 1 Egg
Apple Filling
Chop apples (I use Granny Smith) in small cubes and mix with:
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon powder
- 2 tbsp Flour
- 3 tbsp Sugar sugar
- 3 tbsp Brown sugar
Leave it for 15 minutes. Apples will release the juice, and the flour will make it more dense.
Mix Walnuts With Bread Crumbs
Tip: You can use pecan nuts, almonds or any that you prefer.
Layers
Roll the pastry if is necessary.
Use half of nut mix, and place the half of apple filling on top.
Roll Up Dough and Pinch the Ends. Place Seam-side Down
Cut Several Diagonal Slits Into the Top of the Pastry
Brush the Pastry With the Egg
Bake at 180ºC (350ºF) for 35-40 Minutes Until the Strudel Is Golden Brown
Let the Strudel Cool for 20 Minutes and Serve With Ice Cream
