This is a recipe for apple puff pastry roses! They look amazing and are easy to make. It´s for all those who don´t just want apple in puff pastry. They look as delicious as they are! Great for dessert or something to bring along to a brunch or breakfast or any other occasion where you need to bring something sweet.

Here is what you need:

-2 rolls puff pastry

-2 red apples

-one lemon

-sugar and cinnamon

- a knife and a peeler

-muffin form

-a small bowl

-icing sugar

Make Lemon Juice

Cut the lemon and squeeze out the juice into to small bowl. Put the bowl aside, you will need it in the next step.

Cut the Apple

Wash the apples.

Cut the apple into quarter and cut out the apple seed.Don´t cut of the peel! Now use the peeler to make thin pieces. You can use a shredding machine, too. Put them into the lemon juice right away. Otherwise they will turn brown. You wouldn´t want brown roses.

Pre-heat the oven to 200° degrees, use the fan.

* But that´s something different from the fist picture! First I tried it with a cheese planer but it wouldn´t work, so I used a peeler.

Now to the Puff Pastry

I use ready made puff pastry. Roll it out and cut it into stripes. They should be approximately 1,5 cm wide (0,6 inch).

Now sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon.

Lay the Rose Leafs

Now lay the apple slices at the puff pastry. Lay the apples on the upper half of the stripe. Let the other half free. At the end of the stripe you need one 1cm (0,6 inch) without apple.

Fold the Puff Pastry

Now fold the free half over the apple slices. Make sure that the ends of the apples are in the fold but the peel is on the outside.

Roll the Rose

Start at one side to roll the pastry and apple. The first apple on the stripe you roll will break but that´s not fatal. The rolling takes some time. If a apple slips out of the fold put it back and hold it down until you have rolled over it. Use the end without the apple to fix it, that it doesn´t open during backing.

The ready rolled rose should look like picture 4.

Muffin Form and Oven

Put the roses into the muffin form. Now take the muffin form into the oven. After 5 minutes put aluminum foil above the roses, otherwise they will burn. Bake for 10 more minutes.
