This recipe is a flaky puff pastry roll filled with apples, cream cheese, and cinnamon. It’s great for dessert, and I won’t judge if you eat it for breakfast too! I serve this with ice cream for dessert on Mother’s Day every year because my mother loves apples and my great grandmother was named Rosaria. This tasty treat is easy to make and looks very nice. I hope you like them as much as me!

For this recipe, you need 1 roll of prepared pub pastry, 1 large red apple ( any variety ), 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 T butter, 1 T cream cheese, flour for dusting, a cupcake pan, non stick oil spray, and powdered sugar optionally.

Preheat the oven to 350°F

Cut the Apple into very thin slices. The thinner the better.

Microwave the butter and cream cheese for 30 seconds and mix together to form a creamy liquid.

On a clean surface sprinkle flour and unroll puff pastry and place on the surface.

Spread the butter and cream cheese mixture on the pastry dough into an even layer. Then sprinkle the sugar on top and spread into an even layer. I used a mini offset spatula for spreading.

Layer Apples

Cut the prepared dough into four even strips. On the far left hand side of a dough strip, layer the thin apple slices, overlapping in an even line. The red skin side of the apples should slightly stick out from the dough. Add apples this way to all 4 strips. Sprinkle throughly with cinnamon.

Take one strip, and fold the sugared dough part in half, revealing some of the bottom side of the dough (see picture), then carefully and tightly roll the dough into a circular, rose looking shape.

Bake the Rolls

Place each roll into a cavity of a greased cupcake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes , or until golden brown all over.

Cool and Serve

Remove from the pan carefully with a butter knife or offset spatula. Let cool for 10 minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream or ice cream. You could also top it off with caramel sauce. Enjoy!
