Apple Pie Moonshine

I heard about this delicious beverage several weeks ago and it sounded so good that I just had to try it, and boy am I glad I did! It's got all the flavors of Apple pie incorporated into it and is perfect for a cold winter evening! I plan on giving a few jars away for gifts, but I will be sure and keep some for myself. I didn't have a pot large enough to make a full batch so I changed the original recipe to accomidate the pot I had.Technically, this isn't really moonshine. There is no complicated distilling involved so it's quite easy to make.  

You will need an 8 quart stainless steel pot, a large wooden spoon for stirring, 6 canning jars with lids (make sure the lids do not have any rust on them) also, a measuring cup and I had a plastic funnel on hand, it was helpful but not absolutely neccesary.

The ingredients needed are:

96 oz Apple Cider
64 oz Apple juice
750 ml whipped cream flavored Vodka
6 cinnamon sticks
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar

Pour into the pot, Apple cider and apple juice. Stir together and add the white sugar and brown sugar. Stir well.

Bring liquid to a boil, stirring constantly. Add all 6 cinnamon sticks, then turn heat down to low and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow mixture to cool for about 2 hours. 

Pour the entire bottle of vodka into the apple juice mixture. stir well.

Pour liqiud into 6 canning jars (quart size) that have been sterilized. Place a cinnamon stick into each jar. Wipe the top of each jar with a damp cloth to remove any juice. Screw the lids onto the jars tightly.

I know several people who would love to recieve one of these jars of Apple Pie Moonshine for a gift. This recipe is not as strong as some out there. most of them call for using Everclear in addition to the Vodka. Either way you make it, remember to drink responsibly!
