Apple Pastries

WARNING: Remove seeds to avoid Death!

We are trying to reduce our food waste this year.
This is my idea for what to do with our apple cores and all the half eaten apples my toddler doesn't want anymore.
We turn them into tasty treats that everyone wants.

The filling does not need to be apples, it can be any leftovers from fruits to curries.

Gather Ingredients and Utensils

image.jpeg
- apple cores and half eaten apples (refrigerate prior to use.)
- pastry sheet/s
- grater
- potato peeler
- knife
- baking paper
- oven

Peel Apples

Peel any fridge burned or other "bad bits" off the apple/s.

REMOVE SEEDS!

Remove seeds from apples!
This is an important step because apple seeds contain amygdalin which becomes cyanide in the stomach, which is not much of a problem if you swallow a few seeds whole but it could become deadly (especially to small people) or make you very sick if a bunch of apple seeds are grated and consumed in a short time.

Grate Apples

Grate the apples.

Cut Pastry

Cut pastry into triangles as pictured.

Or into any shape you want.

Place Apple

Place a small pile of grated Apple in the middle of each triangle.

Fold Pastry

Fold the triangles in half over the apple and press the open edges into each other.

If you are not using triangles you can either fold your shape in half or place one on top of another.

Put in Oven

Cook the pastries in the oven, cook at 180C (300F) for 15 min or until golden brown.

Enjoy!

Take out of oven.
Allow to cool.
Enjoy!
