Angrakha Dress

I made angrakha dress which looks gorgeous and beautiful.

I made this angrakha dress from 4 metr thick satin fabric. It has a unique pattern ,basically the idea of this dress comes from clothing of the Mughal Emperors . It is not as much common but used as a party dress in some parts of Asia . It is in many styles like circular angrakha and straight angrakha . i made circular angrakha because it looks more beautiful . I used thick satin fabric so that it can keep warm. You can also make it on any other type of fabric like cotton , silk and net but when you make it on net you should use lining.

I cut the body 15" in lenght which after sewing from both upper and lower side will remain 14". For back side of body cut according to your measurement. I take 20" for waist and cut the arm holes. For the front side i cut two panels one for right front side and other for left front side. Right front side of the body is equal to 3/4 of the measurement of the waist of back side and left front side is equal to 1/2 of the measurement of the waist. Angrakha frock is of v shape neck line so put the left front under the right front and cut the v neck . For right front cut the neckline to end.

I take fabric of 46" width . For cutting circular skirt cut the fabric lenght 46", as both lenght and widht are equal now join the opposite ends. As we take 20" waist for body we can take same for skirt, cut 10" so that it is equal from bothsides . Now take 33" for every point from waist to circular parts. Now after this cutting we got 1 circular piece ,we want two more pieces like this for angrakha dress which we can get by same method.

I cut the sleeves 20" of length and width 5.5". Take a bias cut strip

As our circular panel is of 20" waist while right front side of body is of 15"so put the circular panel under right front side of body and cut it according to picture and after cutting sew it and also sew bias cut strip on left side of panel.

Sew the bias cut strip on the neckline of left front side of body and join it to right front side of body. Now join 1 circular part to the front side and other circular part to the back side of body . Sew the sides, From left side there are two panels which i sew together and from right side there are 3 panels which i sew together.

Attach sleeves to armhole and make back neck . Sew the bias cut strip to the hem . Now angrakha dress is ready to wear.
