Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe on Wood

In this lesson we bring you what might even be better than the original! We laser engraved and cut images of the famous Marilyn Monroe print by Andy Warhol out of various woods to create a stunning mosaic.
Engraving and Cutting the Wood

On a Speedy 400 100w laser machine we used 100 power and 85 speed on 4 types of wood: 1/4 maple, ash, mahogany and cherry to engrave Marilyn's face.
After engraving her face we created a boarder in the shape of a square surrounding her face.
Once done we cut her face out of the boarder to have to have two separate pieces per wood.
Please see PNG image attached for doing it yourself!
Mixing It Up

Using LePage wood glue express we glued the perimeter of one face.
Next we took the square piece of a different wood and inserted the freshly glued face inside.
From here you can make any combination you would like to resemble the famous Warhol piece!
Putting It All Together

After we created 4 mismatched faces we used our machine again to cut out a back board.
The size was to fit all 4 pieces of wood perfectly.
We used the same LePage glue to stick it all together.
Finishing Touches

To give it a smooth finish and to clean up, use a sanding block and or sand paper to perfect your work.
Viola, you are now an artist.
