Ergoman made out of corks - Ergoman hecho de corchos

I was thinking about the process used for drawing and I remembered that my teachers have taught me to first think of simple figures such as cubes, spheres, and cylinders, draw them smoothly and then imagine as if I were taking parts away from those figures until I got the shapes I wanted to draw, then it occurred to me, how about doing this in real life with some corks that I had saved and thus create an ergoman that later can serve as a guide for my drawings?

It was a great challenge to solve the joints, I carried out tests with various materials and objects until one day I thought: what about using pins and silicone to create the joints? I tried it and I think the result was a complete success.

This ergoman was made without thinking about measurements, simply as a test to see what it was capable of with corks, pins, and silicone. To make more exact ergomans, I consider that you must first think about the purpose of it (if you are looking to make realistic drawings or, for example, fashion drawings that use different proportions) then search for these proportions on the internet and work with exact measurements.

In this instructable you will find the process and the result of my experimentation with creating an ergoman with corks, pins, and silicone. Hope you like it.

Supplies

The Ergoman :)

Torso

Ergoman-pasos-03.jpg

The first thing I did was the torso, for this

1. I took a cork

2. I cut it to the height I wanted it to be

3. I cut the front and back

4. I cut the sides a little slanted

5. With small cuts I sought to soften the edges

Hips

For the hip, I did the same steps as the torso, but making the piece smaller.

Head

Ergoman-pasos-05.jpg

1. I took a cork

2. I cut it to the height I wanted it to be

3. I cut the front and back

4. I cut the sides a little slanted

5. With small cuts I sought to soften the edges

Arms and Legs

Ergoman-pasos-06.jpg

For the arms and legs I sought to make cylinders that I later softened with small cuts

Hands

Ergoman-pasos-07.jpg

The hands were made with part of the leftover corks that I had cut

Feet

Joints

Ergoman-pasos-09.jpg

Before starting the project I put a little Vaseline on the head of all the pins so that they would not stick to the silicone.

For the creation of joints

1. I cut the pin to the size I needed it

2. I put the pin in one of the pieces

3. I put hot silicone on the other piece

4. I inserted the head of the pin into the silicone

5. When the silicone cooled down I started to move it so that it would work as a joint.
